Multiple Intelligence
Dr. Howard Gardner, a renowned scientist, psychologist & educationist proposed the "Theory of Multiple Intelligence" in 1983
This theory has been widely accepted over the world.
Today, there are many schools across the world which are running on the education pattern of "Multiple Intelligence".
There are 8 types of Multiple Intelligence. Every person has all of them but in different proportions.
This proportions define the skills and abilities of an individual.
Verbal / Linguistic Intelligence
People with Linguistic - Verbal intelligence are good with words, phrases & languages. These people are typically great at reading, writing, story telling and are generally skilled at teaching, explaining, oration & persuasive speaking. They learn languages effortlessly.
Skills involved: Writing, reading, memorizing dates, thinking in words, telling stories, etc.
Suitable careers: Poets, Public speakers, Journalists, Writers, Lawyers, Editors, Comedians, Translators, News readers, Commentators
Logical / Mathematical Intelligence
People with Logical / Mathematical intelligence naturally
work better in mathematics, computer programming, and other logical, analytical
reasoning, scientific thoughts, investigation, and also the ability to
undertake complex calculations.
Skills involved: Math, Logic, Problem-Solving, Reasoning, Patterns, etc.
Suitable careers: Engineers, Accountants, Bankers, Statisticians, Data Analysts, Stock Brokers, Attorneys, Scientists, Doctors, Mathematicians
Visual / Spatial Intelligence
People with good visual / spatial intelligence are usually
very strong in visualizing and have creative mind for manipulating objects.
These people have a powerful visual memory and they are often artistically well
prepared.
Skills involved: Maps, Reading charts, Drawing, Mazes, Puzzles,
Imagining things, Visualizations, etc.
Suitable careers: Architects, Fashion Designers, Interior Designers, Photographers, Painters, Cinematographers, Animators & etc.
Naturalist Intelligence
People with Naturalistic intelligence have a higher
sensitivity to the natural world and have the power to nurture and cultivate
things. Good for taming and mingling with animals. They understand best once
the subject is very closely related to anything prominent in the environment.
Skills involved: Understanding Nature, Making & Noticing,
Distinctions, Identifying Flora and Fauna, etc.
Suitable careers: Landscape Designers, Wildlife photographers, Archaeologists, Veterinary Doctors, Bird and Wild Life Researcher, Floriculturists, Farmers
Musical / Rhythmic Intelligence
People with Musical / Rhythmic intelligence display higher
sensitivity to music, rhythms, tones, and sounds. They usually possess good
pitch, and they are able to perform, play musical instruments, and compose
audio music. They will frequently use tracks and rhythms to discover to
memorize information.
Skills involved: Picking up Sounds, Remembering Melodies, Rhythms,
Singing, etc.
Suitable careers: Music Therapists, Advertising Professionals, Music Teachers, Music Directors, Sound Engineers, Singers, Dancers, Composers
Bodily / Kinaesthetic Intelligence
People with Bodily / Kinesthetic intelligence usually take
pleasure in performing or acting. They often learn by physically doing
something. They are highly dynamic and seem to use what could be termed muscle
remembrance.
Skills involved: Athletics, Dancing, Craft, Using Tools, Acting, etc.
Suitable careers: Sports, Athletes, Therapists, Choreographers, Artists, Actors, Dancers, Doctors, Military Personnel
Interpersonal Intelligence
People with Interpersonal intelligence are generally
extroverts and they are characterized by the sensitivity to others’ moods,
feelings, and motivations. These people communicate effectively & empathize
easily together with others, and could be either market leaders or followers.
Skills involved: Leading, Organizing, Understanding People,
Communicating, Resolving Conflicts, Selling, etc.
Suitable careers: Educators, HR-Professionals, Coach, CEO, Politicians, Counselors, Nurses, Administrators, Consultants, Principal, Sales Professionals
Intrapersonal Intelligence
People with Intrapersonal intelligence are usually
introverts and like to work all alone. They are often highly self-aware and
capable of grasping their own feelings, motivations, and goals. There is really
high a higher level of perfectionism related to this intelligence.
Skills involved: Recognizing Strengths & Weaknesses, Setting Goals,
Understanding Self, etc.
Suitable careers: Psychologists, Philosophers, Scientists, Counselors, Religious Leaders, Writers, Entrepreneurs, Organization Leaders, Researchers
